What We Do:
We partner with business owners to refine and optimise their operations, ensuring their business runs smoothly and profitably while freeing up time for what matters most.
From operational strategy to leadership support, we take a hands-on approach to identify inefficiencies, implement solutions, and develop a team culture of efficiency to support the company for long-term and sustainable success.
Our ultimate goal? To identify clear roles & systems so that business owners can focus on growth, leadership, and the work they love, rather than be stuck in the day-to-day tasks and being the go-to 'fix-it' person for their teams.

How We Work:
We take a hands-on, practical approach to efficiency—focusing on simple, effective solutions that create lasting results. Every business is unique, and we tailor our strategies to meet your specific needs. We focus on:
- Operational Performance – Identifying inefficiencies and streamlining workflows for smoother day-to-day operations.
- Leadership & Team Support – Helping business owners step confidently into their role as CEOs while building empowered, capable teams.
- Process Automation & Simplification – Reducing wasted time, money & resources by implementing effective systems and workflows.
- Profit Optimisation – Improving margins and cash flow so your business supports a well-paid team (you, included!) and investment in growth.
- Actionable Strategies – No fluff, just clear steps to help you take action immediately.
So, why choose The Efficiency Lab?
We know that small business owners wear a lot of hats, and our mission is to make running your business simpler, more profitable, and more enjoyable.
We also know that small businesses are unique, which is why we have a unique way of measuring your business stability.
*** A Holiday! ***
Curious? Read on...

Did you say holidays??
Business owners generally have one of two responses to holidays:
- "Yes!! Oh you have no idea how much I need a holiday!"
- "Are you mad?! I could never take a holiday!"
And often it's a little bit of both. Excitement + fear!
But forget about the holiday for a moment, because that's not really what it's about. We use 'holidays' as code for testing how much of a bottleneck you are to your businesses stability, sustainability and scalability.
It's not YOU, it's the structure.
You've built your business SO well, that along the way it has inadvertently come to depend on you for it's success. And if you keep going along that path, you'll be stuck under it until you burn out, flip out or die out! #IYKYK.

Here's the
Solution:
Think of the 'holiday' as a representation. We call it your 'time bank' - as in, the amount of time in your time bank represents the amount of time that you, as the owner, can step out of your business without the business being impacted. Our job is to help you build up that 'time bank'.
NOTE: It's not about you becoming obsolete. While you're out of the business, it may not be making big strategic moves, but the point is that it remains stable - systems, finances, team roles and customer delivery should not be impacted.
We help you optimise your operations and then your litmus test is YOU stepping out of the business (starting with a short break, and building up to a longer break as your business becomes more streamlined).
There are huge benefits in this for both you and the business.
Choose how you spend your time, before it's chosen for you.
If you've been around us, you KNOW that one of our least favourite things in the entire world is fear tactics. This is not that.
We state this because we care SO deeply about women in business not suffering and struggling to get ahead. Sadly, we've seen too many people close their businesses or face unnecessary stress when something happens outside of their control...
A family member becomes unwell, a natural disaster occurs, their community needs support, their own health needs prioritising... the things that we go through life hoping and assuming won't catch us out. Until they do. And we have no plan, flexibility or freedom to adapt.
On the flipside, having time freedom doesn't have to only support the doom & gloom. It's also a way to support ourselves to say YES to the things we love and want to do - the walk, the event, the opportunity, the people, the massage, the weekend away, the travel, the things that make our hearts sing.
Here at The Efficiency Lab...
The WHAT is the operational improvements we make.
The WHY is what truly matters to us, and this is our why.

So, who are We?
The Efficiency Lab was founded by Alexandra Sim, bringing together her background in support services, behavioural neuroscience, allied health, business and community-building.
We value a collective vision, co-beneficial actions and belonging, and therefore consciously use the word 'we' in all communications. When engaging with The Efficiency Lab, you'll primarily be working with Alex, although will occasionally be supported by other assistants within the company - we will always communicate this with you.
If you'd like to join the team, we will soon be looking for more Fractional COO's to support our clients. As positions become available, they will be listed HERE.
Our Core Values
There are a few things we care about in business and life, above all others. One of them is living through our values in our every-day decisions and actions - we don't see a company's values as something to plaster on the wall and never look at again. We see values as an integral part of who you are and what you do - they are so much more than a marketing tool or a public statement.
When we work with people, they also often ask us how they can get clearer on their vision. So we have provided our visioning document for you as both an example and as a way for you to see what we're about in a more formal sense. We like to practice what we preach, and we hope this supports you to lead your company with more oomph.
